Insurance across borders: who arranges what
Insurance is where cross-border care usually becomes opaque, mostly because three different things share one word.
Travel insurance
Your own policy, bought at home. For a check-up or a consultation this is normally all that is involved, and no further arrangement is needed. CURA marks these bookings accordingly so you are not left wondering what you have missed.
Local cover for surgery
Surgical cases usually require cover arranged locally, in the country where the treatment happens. The hospital arranges this, not you and not us. What CURA does is track where it stands, so the status is visible rather than something you have to chase.
- Not needed, the booking is a check-up
- Not started
- Being arranged by the provider
- In place
What we are not
CURA does not sell insurance, does not broker it, and does not advise on it. We record what the hospital reports. If that status is wrong, it is wrong at the hospital, and the platform will show you exactly who said what and when.
